Dear readers,

"For everything its season, and for every activity under heaven its time". Preceded by these words from Ecclesiastes quoted by Ecuadorian President Jamil Mahuad on the 26th of October, the Peace of Brasilia was signed. Ten months later, the president of the Peruvian Congress, Martha Hildebrandt, would receive him in the Legislative Palace in Lima, saying, "It is one people spread over two countries". By then we had come to understand that the wall that separated us had fallen for ever and that we should join in the hoped for, physical embrace; in view of this, Made in Peru was present with our Marketing Director Bernardo Gleiser and his silent ambassadors in the First  International de Peruvian Paso Horse Show held in the city of Quito and organized by breeders in the sister Republic of Ecuador. And so, a fine way has been opened that will take us to a common destiny, Our mandatories have broken down the wall that divided us and they have done their part; now it is up to us to build the peace. This Tenth Edition commemorates that event, of great significance not only for our two countries but also for all Americans.

I would like to make known the immense pride that not only I but also all our sponsors, who make up the chief part of this magazine, have in reaching this tenth edition. A big thank you to all of you for showing us more your preference and for keeping alive this "project for the support and diffusion of the Peruvian Paso Horse", which as our good friend Roque Benavides says in his interesting article "Blood Lines 1999", is really a tremendous effort. To you, Roque, a thousand thanks for your unconditional support. To Felipe Thorndike, for the time you dedicate to us. And to Bernardo, for always being so positive and coming out on top.

I announce, besides, this special edition of the "Los Pumas  Cieneguilla Show" where you can see the results and the pictures of the respective champions. Many thanks to Ernesto Roca and to the Organizing Committee for carrying this out.
Soon, furthermore, for November of this year we will be having our own Web page, able to be visited the world over and which in addition will advertise free of charge the Ranches that make up the "Made in Peru" family.

I dedicate this number to the memory of a distinguished and notable breeder: Don Fernando Fernandini, friend of all.
